Laura Shumate
is a non-profit veteran with over a decade experience in fundraising and a member community support, as well as nonprofit marketing and promotions. An arts enthusiast, she’s worked as Drive Director with NPR-affiliate KCRW, Membership Manager with LACMA, as a Senior Membership Manager with the American Film Institute, and is presently Assistant Director for Individual Giving for the Sundance Institute.
A Los Angeles native, Laura’s been a writer all her life, entering SFSU as a Creative Writing major in 1989. She graduated in 1996 with a BA in English Literature, a degree she believed would promise her better job security. As a visual artist, she has shown throughout Los Angeles, selling work in gallery shows alongside such notable artists as Shepard Fairey, Risk, Kino Villand, Henry Rollins and Sage Vaughn. Laura loves watching movies and hopes one day to write a screenplay that Darren Aronofsky directs.
